How does 4Field estimate a field's potential?

4Field is trained on data of several thousand real-world reservoirs from around the world. Based on an analysis of the input data, a probabilistic model trained on a large set of examples makes a predictive estimate of a field's potential.

Can 4Field evaluate a field potential if some data is missed?

#

It is possible to do calculations with a partial data set. However, the accuracy of the prediction depends on the number of input parameters.

How does it work if the input is insufficient?

The probabilistic model estimates distributions of the missing parameters. Then the algorithm estimates the predictive distribution of the oil recovery factor.

Which missing inputs do mainly affect the accuracy of the estimation?

The influence of particular parameters on overall result may depend on the other parameters. Parameters describing transport and storage properties, such as porosity and permeability together with reservoir fluids’ properties have the greatest influence on the result.

Is 4Field forecast comparable with expert opinion?

Yes. If the number of input parameters is limited, the accuracy of system forecast can exceed the expert estimates.

Is it possible to eliminate expert evaluation of a field's potential?
